Points
to consider when building a website that will get it pulled high in
Google(Search Engines):
1) Title
Areas & meta-description areas of the webpages
are the most important areas to the Search Engines. Your home page is the most important page.
2) Content(
TEXT ) on the page is critical for getting pulled in the free-organic areas of
Google.
Images are wonderful and produce great
design but BE SURE that those phrases which describe your service ARE present
on your page numerous times.
3) Think
through carefully how folks are searching and where the “gaps” are for your
home page. For instance, since Sabrina’s domain name is drmorgen.com and the
term Dr. Morgen and Sabrina Morgen
are plentiful within the text of pages …she need not promote Dr. Morgen. On the other hand,
a term like “ back adjustment “ is probably searched for frequently and
is not present on her site. Therefore she should ponder popular related phrases
and work them appropriately into her text on home page and other pages and
allow the title areas of other pages on her site to hold these well thought out
terms.
4) Frames
present many problems for Search Engine placement.
5) It
is best to have most of your site’s content within 2 clicks of the home page.
6) If
you wish to have your website recognized as a local business site, be sure the
address is clearly displayed IN TEXT (not an image) and in a normal format with
phone number. Have this in a standard
location across the site.
7) Many
site owners copy paragraphs or articles from other sites. Google spots this
easily and will suppress the duplicate pages from displaying in searches. If
you are copying an article from another site, be sure to “massage” the copy so
that it will pass under Google’s Duplicate-Content Radar. If you have duplicate content on your site,
Google can view your site as untrustworthy and drop you pages from it’s index.
8) When
choosing domain names, having a desired search term within the domain name
HELPS your site to get pulled for that term.
ie:
wardhealthinsurance.com would
benefit me more than wardins.com ie:
palmbeachhealthinsurance.com would help more than ward-hlth-ins.com
