Go to www.dmoz.org

Overview:
You need to find the category that your website belongs-to on www.dmoz.org. Dmoz.org consists of a hierarchy of categories. If your website is for a LOCAL business(which is the case with 95% of NPI members) …you will want to choose “Regional” and then “US” as the top categories and then drill-down from there.

Example: for Dr. Sabrina Morgen’s site ( www.drmorgen.com )

Choose “Regional” > “US” >

Likewise ….Choose “Florida” > “Counties” > “Palm Beach” > “Localities” > “Lake Worth”

(the drilldown of regions ends at the city level)

Now choose appropriate category (for www.drmorgen.com, this would be “Health” category)

In this case …for www.drmorgen.com the next page offers No Further Drill Down of categories … plus …we can see appropriate
websites (Lake Worth Chiropractor + Lake Worth dentist) that fall into the same Lake Worth health-related category.
I now feel satisfied that I reached the appropriate category. At this point we will submit www.drmorgen.com to dmoz.org by
clicking on “suggest URL” (top area of page).

After clicking on “ suggest URL “ you will fill out a submission form. Very straight forward.

If the editors at dmoz.org feel that you have not selected the most appropriate category, they will choose the best category for you. This delays but does not halt your acceptance. Normally acceptance takes many months.
